Music is a passion of mine, it started long ago and it's coursed through my being ever since. I love listening to, playing and immersing myself in music.
-
As 2016 draws to a close, the thing I have noticed is that through my blog, my little space for me to share is that I've found myself and while I've evolved in myself, my blog has evolved to a community space where I can share the music I love with you, where others have been able to join me in sharing their passion for music with the world too.
A place for musicians to connect with the industry and people across the world.
Through LBW I reconnected with myself, my spirit, the universe and to have the courage to say I didn't want to live a conventional way of life, but instead would walk my own path. I feel like wine, as though with each year, I develop more of my own character, flavour.
This little space inspired courage in me to follow my soul and trust my instincts in life. To live on the road, finding that balance between being lost to the world in nature and being connected to the world through music. I like my own space, my own time, it allows me to recharge, in learning to be okay alone, I found that I created more spiritual natural connections with friends, something infinite shared in a moment in time.
-
The challenge I've felt recently has been exploring further within the industry, connecting with more people as LBW continues to expand her horizons but without losing that sense of spirit, of character.
Without losing my own nomadic way of life.
I didn't want this space to become a corporate entity & I'm excited to invite more people to be part of the tribe, adventuring further into the industry without LBW losing that sense of spirit; we're a music community of people from around the world & we make a difference to the industry as we unite and share the sounds surfing in on the tides of the emerging music ocean.
We are independent in all that we are and do.
We harbour the magic music of the world at LBW, we're all nomads with a passion for music & we look forward to sharing more music, festivals and music scenes with you in the future but today we just want to thank you for supporting live emerging music and hope that you will continue to support the independent arts & music of the world as we do.
While many of you are preparing for festive season (which by the way is very confusing, it's only October!) we're sticking with the forthcoming celebration of Samhain.
The days are getting shorter, the nights longer, the leaves are turning from green to beautiful shades of red, orange and gold. As the weather cools & tribe LBW are supping pumpkin spiced latte's (except me, who will continue to drink tea), we'll be sharing awesome gigs & music to keep you warm all through the winter that those North of the wall warned us was coming.
-
This summer there was a rich swell of music that surfed in on the tides of the emerging music ocean, those bands, artists and tunes will continue to be harboured on the blog throughout fall; joined also by those great tunes released by the bands of yesteryear, who are uniting with the music scene once more, throughout the long cold of winter (Korn we're looking at you, Corey you're next).

For ye not afraid of a serious riff, listen here...

At tribe LBW while we love the winter weather, the snow, the winter ocean, long nights of stargazing under the moon; but at heart, we are creatures of the sun.
Those long warm summer nights, the blue ocean beckoning us toward her, the sound of songs being played out across the hills, countryside and beaches.
-
We couldn't resist sharing with you the festivals that you should be attending next year, the lineups promise to be more epic then ever & we couldn't not share these sneak previews with you...

January may seem a little cold for festival season to get started, but with 12 stages to keep you warm the guys behind Pilot Promotions figured Icebreaker Festival was the perfect post festive season festival to get your year off to a rocking start.
What better way to keep warm & prepare for summer season then with a whole day of awesome live music?
Look out for more awesome announcements throughout winter!

The festival of metal, of riffs and of all that rocks. We absolutely would not miss this festival. Last year everyone seemed to give the guys a lot of negativity, which we at tribe LBW feel was a little unwarranted. Yeah okay there were loads of the old bands but there was plenty of new blood too.
Besides it was an honour to see the likes of Sabbath, & Maiden.
-
But something tells us this year team DL are stepping up their game and there'll be one hell of an influx of new blood as well as the biggest names in music...
(Our money's on Metallica to headline! Corey if you work real hard on getting a new record out maybe we'll even get our favourite nine!)
Enough of procrastinating lineup's there'll be time for that in the weeks to come...
You probably want to pop back here for a little announcement we've got on 01/11.
Here at Tribe LBW, there was one thing I wanted to do when I started my blog, it was to combine my love of nature, primarily the ocean with my love of music, primarily rock. A grassroots festival that definitely holds it's own unique character in the festival scene.
A weekend of surfing and music, is there anything sweeter in life?
This year we got to see the likes of Nahko & Medicine For The People perform and I'm telling you now when you take that healing medicine music and you factor in the surf, there's pretty much no better way to spend a weekend.
Because festivals aren't festivals without some awesome epic bands to listen to, here's our first five of the bands you seriously need to be checking out over winter and into 2017.
A rare find and a recommendation from our buddies in KTP that we'll be forever thankful for. Rock like you've never heard and a live set that's pretty much unrivalled ACP are bloody awesome.
Metal, Punk inspired rock riffs from the south coast, proving that age means nothing and if you were born to rock, you were born to rock. Fresh on the emerging music scene TBTH create a rage fuelled riff heavy sound that pretty much makes them Kerrang poster boys.
The true kings of the North, Eat Defeat are pretty much like one of those candies that once you've tasted one, it's not enough. You will forever crave the sweet sound of ED punk-rock tunes.
-
Don't say we never treat you to a little rock here at tribe LBW!
Of course there's always our favourite skate-punk. metal and punk-rock to keep you satisfied.
We hope you'll love the tunes as much as we do and that you'll support live emerging music as well as festivals big and small next season.
Pop back, tune in and turn up for more live music here at LBW shortly.
A heady raw mix of alternative rock laced with hypnotizing riffs & a gritty backbone.
Creating a unique sound for each of their tunes, Kamikaze Test Pilots, are as the name suggests, a contradiction, a no rules, non-conforming suicidal mesh of influences with a sound that reinvents itself with each new song.
Dinosaur - Kamikaze Test Pilots - Shared by Blank TV
We've been featuring this band since the start of summer, we first heard the above track Dinosaur played at one of our favourite venues, The Hobbit in Southampton.
We danced, we moshed and we knew we had found something special in these boys from Reading.
After purchasing the album which should have holes in from the amount of times we've played it, we decided to go to another gig to check out Kamikaze Test Pilots.
We kinda figured it back then but over the summer, the boys live shows, radio plays, features and music has proved that they are a powerful force to be reckoned with, combining a unique rock sound with front man Ryan's incredible vocals, KTP are certainly ones to watch in 2017.
Kamikaze Test Pilots (L-R) Simon Buckett - Ryan Niemandt - Wes Niemandt
Their debut self titled album released in 2015, recorded by Bobby Bloomfield and distributed via Universal has seen the band develop a large following across the UK as well as further afield with music fans in the US, Europe and Africa.
If you missed their shows in London and across the south this summer, you certainly missed out on some serious shots of rock, but fret not hard rocking amigos, the band are playing Day Of Rockening this Saturday in the countryside near the south of the UK.
“They’re fun grunge, I like to call them Funge” – Jack Baseley, 2016
Hey,
it’s Leanna, like promised I’m going to give you an overview of my time
spent at the locally cherished festival, Southsea Fest!
I started my time at the festival listening to Aviv and The Eunuch Horn slide
out some sweet psychedelic tunes over at The Fat Fox! You can’t not
move to their music, it was almost like they were hypnotising the
surrounding audience to come closer, move their bodies and come and
watch their set.
The band have the energy but they also have a
quality which means their music is delivered in a really laid back, cool
and collected style.
They
are 100% worth looking up and keeping tabs on for more gigs, they are
local to Southsea so if you are from that area I recommend you check out
their gigs coming up.
The
festival itself holds so much character, there were 21 venues this year
spanning from one side of Albert Road all the way to The Pyramids near
the sea front.
The
variety and quantity of impressive bands is something dreams are made
of, giving attendees a host of options for a feeble price of only £20.
Taking into consideration the sheer size/distance covered in this festival I made the trek to the sea front to watch Eagulls at The Pyramids. There were plenty of bars and venues on the way which made the journey far more interesting.
Eagulls are
a band who are already achieving great things; they really created an
atmosphere on the night which everyone lost themselves in.
They
have a wall of noise which means their music is never empty sounding;
they have great melodies and use effects in a way which really
compliments their unique, quite retro sound. If you enjoy The Cure or The Cocteau Twins you will benefit from listening to these guys.
The Birdcage was the next venue to host a band which I have wanted to catch live for a while, Melt Dunes.
Coming from Southsea they have obviously built up a solid fan base as
the venue was packed out and people were struggling to get through the
door.
These guys are true, pure psychedelic rock. Like I was saying earlier about Eagulls, Melt Dunes also worked the FX pedals perfectly, complimenting the washed out vocal sound.
They
also had a wall of fuzzy noise which makes your hair stand on end but
there was also never a dull moment in the song, they had a trance like
effect on the crowd, everyone was moving, everyone was having fun and
really feeding off the energy of the band, which Melt Dunes had plenty of.
By now the drinks had been flowing a while, I decided to go and watch one last band, Demob Happy.
My boyfriend, Jack, had described this band as “funge” (fun grunge
apparently) and this sounded weird and wonderful so I took the advice
and went and watched them at Little Jonny Russell’s, and my my, I am SO
glad I did!
Since
watching this band live I have become weirdly obsessed, they’re like a
cocktail of Weezer and Nirvana but more, so much more. They’re aggy,
they’re riffy and they have a tonne of energy when they play live. Jack
was right; the only way to describe this band is Funge. Listen to them,
only then will you understand.
