A heady raw mix of alternative rock laced with hypnotizing riffs & a gritty backbone.
Creating a unique sound for each of their tunes, Kamikaze Test Pilots, are as the name suggests, a contradiction, a no rules, non-conforming suicidal mesh of influences with a sound that reinvents itself with each new song.

Dinosaur - Kamikaze Test Pilots - Shared by Blank TV

We've been featuring this band since the start of summer, we first heard the above track Dinosaur played at one of our favourite venues, The Hobbit in Southampton.
We danced, we moshed and we knew we had found something special in these boys from Reading.

After purchasing the album which should have holes in from the amount of times we've played it, we decided to go to another gig to check out Kamikaze Test Pilots.

We kinda figured it back then but over the summer, the boys live shows, radio plays, features and music has proved that they are a powerful force to be reckoned with, combining a unique rock sound with front man Ryan's incredible vocals, KTP are certainly ones to watch in 2017.

Their debut self titled album released in 2015, recorded by Bobby Bloomfield and distributed via Universal has seen the band develop a large following across the UK as well as further afield with music fans in the US, Europe and Africa.

Check them out elsewhere on the web at Kamikaze Test Pilots // EGH Radio // Lonely Oak Radio

If you missed their shows in London and across the south this summer, you certainly missed out on some serious shots of rock, but fret not hard rocking amigos, the band are playing Day Of Rockening this Saturday in the countryside near the south of the UK.

Then catch them in Southsea, London, Portsmouth, Reading and listen out for their tunes on airwaves across the world daily!

Do be sure to check out the boys, listen to their tunes and support them at a live show.
If you liked this band, then pop back later for another music artist feature right here at LBW.

Aloha - Ahoy

It's been such a beautiful weekend and a beautiful day that it's hard not to feel all the vibes of festival season. If you've never heard of Boardmasters in Cornwall, you definitely need to check it out for 2017. This festival has become the meeting place for people who love the ocean, surfing and music, a grassroots festival for sure and one that stole this free spirit's heart.

Festival season isn't quite over yet but there's plenty of gigs to keep us warm all through fall and well into winter. Look out for Tuesday Tunes tomorrow morning which has information on all the gigs you need to be at in the next two weeks.

It's Monday and that means it's Music Monday, a round-up of the best in new music from across the UK and you can catch these bands harbored at LBW over the coming weeks, so keep a weather eye on that horizon.

Aloha - Ahoy

It's certainly summer, the days are long, the sky is cloudless, the ocean a constant blue.
This weekend I took a little time out from all the music adventures to spend some time in nature. Balance is important in life, I don't like to take life too seriously but I could feel my energy lacking & figured some time with friends, the ocean & the forest may just be exactly what I needed to refresh my spirit.

There are many incredible bands emerging across the music scenes within the UK and even distant shores currently; those of you who stop by regularly will be familiar with a few names on the list, but we are excited to bring you tunes in the coming days from Bimbo, Alternative Car Park, Witchcharmer, Almeida, Eat Defeat, Cold Summer, The Bittertown Hounds, Captain Trips, Coral Springs, Oxen, Tankus The Henge, Kamikaze Test Pilots, Triple Sundae & many more, so do keep a weather eye on the music horizon.

With the summer drawing to a close on the distant horizon, fall brings a fresh chapter here at LBW too. I'll be back on the road & featuring bands from across the UK as well as Europe and the US too.
Then I'll be spending a little time nearer the capital and a little time in my favourite places in the west, bringing you the best in music and adventures!

It's not just me, Leanna my lovely intern from the south coast is heading out of her current town to a new location where she'll be based bringing you the best in music from across the south's coolest music scenes.

Team LBW are also welcoming our US, European and UK interns this month which we'll shortly be sharing with you as well as our music scene focus features from around the UK & overseas.

If you'd like your band featured or your part of a music scene & you'd like us to share your sounds/events please email KG -  littlebearwolfblog@gmail.com

Aloha, Ahoy

This weekend I've been back in Reading, England. I didn't know too much of Reading when I went for the first time a couple of months back. It turns out it's a pretty cool place with some absolutely awesome bands rolling out from it's confines.

I'm able to spend more time on the road these days and this means being able to add music scenes to the map & musicians to the music community.
There is nothing like hearing an awesome band for the first time, the rapture of losing yourself in a song that is totally new to the senses. I love sharing emerging music, supporting bands and finding great venues to go to gigs.

One band in particular led the way for Reading to be brought to life on LBW, I've featured their music on the blog and got to know the band, their cool guys and they've got more to bring you in 2016; but more on the band later. I'd like to thank Simon, Ryan and Wes from Kamikaze Test Pilots for showing me how awesome the music out of Reading can be as well as providing me with more musicians to check out too.

I've been able to spend a bit of time with some of these awesome bands and will be sharing the upcoming interviews and features throughout the week with you all, so do take time to check out these bands and their fabulous songs.

If you haven't been to Reading for live music before, then I'm telling you now, you should definitely check out the Purple Turtle and Sub 89.
There are some wicked gigs listed and with more being announced daily, there will be plenty of opportunity for you to check out both venues this summer.

Reading it would appear is a pretty cool place when it comes to emerging music.
Keep a weather eye on that horizon for more music & features from the finest of Readings music scene coming to LBW. Don't miss the best of Portsmouth coming this week on Scene Scout.

Love & Peace

Aloha, Ahoy

I told you there were so many awesome bands to come tonight!

I'm so incredibly lucky that I get to connect with so many wonderful artists who are really out there bringing tunes to the emerging music market.
I certainly recommend you checking out all of these bands tonight because they are truly among the best of the newest brightest bands on the scene.

Hailing from Canada, these guys are here to bring the metalcore right to you.
When I found this band I couldn't stop listening and I can't wait to bring you more features on these guys. Their Canadian metalcore is something to behold so treasure 'Who You Think I Am'.
The boys have just signed with Poison Bomb records so be sure to check out their social pages & keep up to date with all the awesome things the band are up to.

Cold Summer are a post hardcore / rock band from Leeds, England and these boys are turning the loud up a notch so check out their tune 'A Time Imagination Forgot To Inspire' and lose yourself in the music for a moment.
I've got exciting features and much more planned for these boys right here at LBW and I am so excited to share more with you later this month and over summer!

My favourite Brighton/Southampton, England boys stole my heart a long long time ago and I can't wait to bring you more on this awesome band with a crazy unique set of tunes. 'The Twisted Architect' is one of my favourite tunes of the year and you realy need to get to a live show.. which lucky for you I'll be sharing info for right here at LBW very soon.

Fast & Heavy Punk Rock from Birmingham, England and trust me when I say these boys do not mess around. Probably as close to home as I've got in recent times with awesome new bands, these boys bring back all the memories from the punk and skate gigs I went to as a teen. So check them out and show them your love!

LUNGS

A new band to LBW, fresh tunes for you, awesome vibes for everyone. Introducing feature to come on this wicked band very soon.

Boys boys boys - yes so good! From those early days of listening to rehearsals to your gigs I am so excited for the journey you're on and this is only the start of crazy cool things. Catch the boys at The Hobbit in Southampton and at Wickham Festival in August and do not miss another awesome set from the best band out of Portsmouth, England.

Bringing skatepunk to the masses is totally something I can handle. This band have some rad shows coming up over summer and I'll be brining you the full lowdown tomorrow along with show information.
Pretty much all the love for this band right now, so do check them out stat!

Reading, England has some serious music talent. Everyone told me nah don't bother with Reading there's nothing there. Except it might be one of the best kept secrets in music with so much emerging talent I'm surprised the entire town isn't bursting.
Catch up with The Twin Dracula and all the cool things they're up to right here at LBW because I'm excited to say I'll be meeting these top boys this weekend to bring you the lowdown.

Another of Reading's awesome new bands breathing fresh air to the scene with gigs coming up across the south including awesome gigs at The Hobbit (everyone's favourite venue) and you can catch the boys at The Islington in London too, keep an eye out for this show!
Not to mention being played across regional radio and features on Gigsoup and blogs, the boys are being played on BBC Introducing Berkshire, Brighton radio this weekend and features coming all this weekend and next week too. Don't miss out on the exciting things these boys are up to because they're bringing all the rock to the scene.

Alt Rock four piece from the depths of Hull, England.
A new one to LBW but I'm pretty psyched to be bringing you the best of this bands tunes and sharing them across the scene. Look out for an Introducing feature coming your way right here at LBW.

Okay so a little bit of a hiatus but the band are teasing us with tours and new tunes and they really aren't to be missed. I first met the boys at Butserfest where we talked all things music and life and their live show was mesmerising. I can't wait to share more updates on this cracking band very soon. Keep your eye on that horizon!

some of Idivide & I a very very very long time ago!

Beautiful tunes emanating all the way from LA from Ballerina Black. I first hear this band a couple of years ago and featured them in the early days on LBW but their music journey is still going strong and it's a pleasure to feature their tunes once again. Keep an eye out for a full feature coming soon to LBW.

I think that should be just about enough new tunes to keep you going over the weekend! Pop back for more next week and look out for next month's international anthems playlist on Spotify.

I can't wait to bring you updates from all of these awesome bands, give them a follow, a like and turn up those tunes!

Keep a weather eye on the horizon.

Aloha, Ahoy,

If you missed part one of this feature last week, you can check it out here.

For those of you avidly reading the blog and the band features, thank you, your time spent checking out the bands, listening to tunes, attending live shows and supporting new music helps to keep emerging live music in business.

The boys in KTP are proving they're a force to be reckoned with...
“A grooving and soulful approach to hard rock that's aggressive and odd” – Metal Hammer
People from the UK, Europe & the US are jumping on this band wagon, so make sure you don't miss out & check out the band today...
The Kamikaze Test Pilots are every bit the contradiction their name suggests.  Straight ahead rock songs like "Fairy Tales" and "Dinosaur" contain subtle nuances that often tend to be lost in hard rock.  At first impression, the more mellow "Better Way" leaves one feeling as if they are floating down a lazy river, but instead carries an underlying intensity - created by great musicianship and outstanding songwriting - that can be likened to white water rafting.  Each Kamikaze Test Pilot song is its own wonderfully unique beast! - Vittorio DeBacco, USA

Show the band some love by giving them a follow, a like and a listen to their tunes.

As if that wasn't enough, the band are certainly ones to watch in 2016, headed towards their biggest year yet in 2017.

Catch them live to really appreciate their sound, I saw this band live before I listened to any of their tunes or checked them out. Despite drinking half of Middle Earth at my fave south coast bar The Hobbit, the riffs had me hooked & I spent all my late night munchies money on a CD.
I couldn't eat the album but the next day I played it on repeat.
I then played it to my housemates & just about anyone else I knew in music & now I'm telling all of you, you really shouldn't miss this band.

With shows coming up in Bournemouth, Southampton, Reading, Portsmouth, Southsea and London there will be every opportunity to see the band.
More to be announced & more to come on the shows! The band will be at awesome festivals & have exciting plans for you all in 2017...

Like the bands sound? Then you can check them out tonight on BBC INTRODUCING BERKSHIRE...

The band began with brothers Ryan and Wes Niemandt, who since 2001 have been honing their song craft.
Creating a fusion of sounds edged with alternative rock. The brothers played with various musicians before
eventually forming Kamikaze Test Pilots in 2005, with Simon Buckett joining as bassist in 2009.

If that wasn't enough, you can check out recent press for the band at:

Plus recent plays on EGH Radio // The Radio Alternative

& there's more to come from this band very soon.

I told you all when I first featured the bands tune 'Dinosaur' that you could expect exciting things from these Reading based boys.

It would seem Reading is teeming with awesome emerging bands & I have not one but THREE other incredible Reading based bands that have surfaced at LBW, so stay tuned and keep a weather eye on that horizon.

Coming up next my favourite new label and their wicked bands you won't be able to live without.

B I M B O
BIMBO are a two-piece band storming their way into the south-coast music scene. Their bluesy, doom rock infused music certainly will captivate you; it isn’t crazy to admit this band are going to make it far.
A couple of nights ago I went and met the guys, we went to a bar and had a bit of a chat about their band (in-between me being bewildered as they compared beers and us probably having far too much of a giggle when I should have been working…oops!)
Here's how the chat imbetween comparing beers went...
The first thing I asked BIMBO was the most obvious question…

WHY DID YOU NAME YOUR BAND THAT?

We didn’t have a name and we had a gig coming up, we wanted a punchy one-worder which wasn’t too serious, because we’re not too serious.
We searched up old terms for a laugh, that’s where we found BIMBO. To be honest every band name sucks but it builds with the personality the music brings to it – like Foo Fighters – “what does that even mean?!”
'I'm a bit of a bimbo, we both are' - Rob

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN TOGETHER?

Well, we used to be in a four-piece but found it wasn’t our thing…we wanted to create something expressive that we enjoy.

We didn’t do our first gig until September last year but before that we were dithering around for about a year making songs and figuring out how to work as a two piece. It took a lot more energy.

Rob went from backing vox to being a front man so had to build the confidence up and get some stage presence.
WHY DOOM ROCK?

An idea can bounce around in your head, we tried different things we liked, but, doom rock felt the most comfortable and really fits Rob’s voice.
'I saw the singer of Drenge fall over in a dress, what was going on? I don't know but it was good. It's something we would do. - Rob

BUT YOU’RE QUITE BLUSEY TOO?!

ROB: Some of our favourites are bluesy! BB King, Eric Clapton…my Dad was in a blues band so that influenced me really...
AMRIT: The blues keeps us grounded, some of my favourite influences are blues too – little Richard, Richard Purdy and Jack White to name a few. The blues is melodic and emotional and our music is about connecting to people on a level people can relate to.

When you go back to the bands you like the elements start from the blues, it’s embedded in you.Classic blues and contemporary psych rock keep those elements, to be honest blues can be found in anything.
I think people expect us to be like The Black Keys but I don’t think we are, our riffs are based around blues scales and drum grooves, but that doesn’t make us the same.
'When the sun goes down, there's trouble' - Amrit, speaking to a girl

WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR BIMBO?

AMRIT: I think it’s important not to look to far into the future, I don’t want us to get ahead of ourselves. We just want to gig loads, continue doing what we’re doing and playing some cool venues. We haven’t been a two piece for too long and to be honest we couldn’t believe the reception we got in the first few weeks, it was incredible!
We’ve just recorded an EP called, Kiss of Death and hopefully we can have another EP or single recorded by the beginning of 2017!
